The Meaning of Pentecost

The name Pentecost comes from the Greek pentkoste, meaning the fiftieth day after the resurrection. The historical significance is derived from the law being given to Moses on the fiftieth day after the exodus from Egypt (Exodus 19). The harvest is concluded at that time also. Pentecost was celebrated over a period of seven complete weeks after the Passover (Leviticus 23:15-16). Christ was crucified over the Passover weekend, Pentecost is celebrated seven weeks after Easte_. ( The last lette w_n’t w_te).
